Dr. Blayne Welk, grew up in British Columbia. After finishing high school he enrolled at Western for undergraduate studies and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. This was then followed by completion of his MD at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Welk then returned to British Columbia, where he received Urology residency training at UBC. He returned to Eastern Canada to undertake a two year fellowship in reconstructive urology at the University of Toronto, focusing on treatment of male urethral stricture disease, male and female urinary incontinence and neurogenic bladder dysfunction. While in Toronto, he also achieved his Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology. Dr. Welk joined the Division of Urology in September. His primary office will be at St. Joseph's Hospital where his clinical and academic work will focus on urethral strictures, urinary incontinence, neuro-urology and outcomes based research.
